Mahrez: Ranieri Threatened to Blowtorch His Dilly Dong Off
The football world sat back and applauded yesterday following announcements that PFA Player of the Year, Riyah Mahrez had signed a new contract with league champions Leicester City.
But in what might seem a refreshing sign of club loyalty in a a day and age filled with players edging for bigger team moves, sadly things might not be all they appear.
According to an unnamed club insider, the Algerian international and African Player of the Year was put under immense pressure to put pen to paper on a new four-year deal, with manager Claudio Ranieri resorting to what other club representatives have deemed “extreme behaviour”.
“Claudio full on threatened Mahrez” say the informers. Before alleging that Ranieri threatened to “blowtorch his own dilly dong off” if Mahrez followed through on plans to jump ship to Arsenal.
“Basically Claudio had gone to B&Q, hired a blowtorch and stashed it in his office. The next time he and Mahrez were in private he got out his ‘tinkerman’ and threatened to melt it all the way down should Riyad leave Leicester in the lurch”, say sources.
The 17 goals and 11 assists contribution to Leicester’s history-making season had of course made Mahrez hot property over the course of the summer, fuelling a lot of speculation.
Thankfully, though perturbed, Riyad Mahrez decided to stay, meaning 64-year-old Claudio’s cured Italian sausage remains ripe for the season ahead.
