Manchester United Tattoo For a Manchester City Fan!

One Manchester City fan has proved his ultimate devotion and love to his son, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy by tattooing fierce local rivals Manchester United’s crest on his leg.

The incurable degenerative condition has caused 12-year-old Kirk’s muscles to deteriorate, leaving him confined to a wheelchair and unable to lift his arms.

The things you do for love!

All you can do is watch your child deteriorate in front of you. When he was diagnosed I buried my head in the sand for a couple of years, but I thought it was about time I did something. I’m so proud to have made £10,000 and I’ve loved the whole fundraising experience. It’s been crazy to see how the community rallied together and it was humbling for people who don’t know me to take an interest and donate to the cause. It’s been fantastic and the support I have had off people has been brilliant. The whole process has also helped raise awareness and inform people about the condition which is what I set out to do.

And do something he most decidedly did. A large proportion of the online Manchester football community came together from both sides and donated to the cause. Bitter football rivalry doesn’t beat the true love of a father. We may have to wait a long time to see which side of Manchester will have ultimate bragging rights; but this was an overall win for humanity. Massive respect to Mark and we sincerely wish him and his son all the best in the future.

Hats off to Mark for getting a Manchester United tattoo; it must have hurt in more ways that one!
