Germany U21’s Officially Now a Bunch of Kuntz
According to reports coming out of Germany, the recent Olympic silver medalists and World Champions have switched focus away from their current crop of stars to heap more attention on emerging talent.
Taking on the new moniker “Kuntz funky bunch”, the Germany U21 team look set to have a new lease of life injected into them following the appointment of new manager and former Kaiserslautern CEO Stefan Kuntz.
Setting his sights on qualification for the upcoming U21 European Championship set to take place in Poland in 2017, the former 1996 European Cup winner will take his team into their first game under his leadership in September.
Amidst the fans and the German press it appears an unpopular choice, with some questioning his tepid coaching track record.
“Kuntz will leave us wide open”, said one fan while national newspaper Das Bild wrote; “this appointment of Kuntz is going to land us in some hairy situations.”
Whether the former Bochum and Besiktas striker leads this new crop of players to success remains to be seen.
The German Football Association, on the other hand, can only hope Kuntz is resilient enough to take the current pounding.
